민팃이 중고폰 시장에서 빠르게 성장할 수 있게 된 요인으로 비대면이 주는 편의성, 체계적인 시스템, 정보 투명성이 꼽힌다. 중고 거래 과정에서 불필요한 대면 접촉이나 가격 협상을 할 필요가 없이 자판기처럼 손쉽게 이용할 수 있다는 점이 빠르게 입소문을 탔다. 데이터에 기반한 매입가 산정 근거 제시와 검수 인증서 제공도 차별화 요소다.중고폰 거래 시 큰 불안 요소로 지목된 개인정보 유출 우려도 국내 품질인증 획득으로 해소했다. 독일 품질인증기관 TUV SDU 본사로부터 개인정보·데이터 삭제 프로그램에 대한 국내 표준 소프트웨어(SW) 품질인증(SQA, ISO/IEC 25051:2014 기반)을 받았다.
민팃은 지난 2019년 8월 대형마트 중심으로 민팃ATM을 도입한 이래 현재 전국 6000여곳에서 비대면 중고폰 거래 인프라를 운영하고 있다. 사업 출범 2년 만에 운영 장비 수는 20배, 중고폰 회수 물량은 14배 이상 각각 증가했다.
민팃 관계자는 30일 비즈니스포스트와 통화에서 “국내에 정착한 중고스마트폰 무인 매입기 ‘민팃ATM’을 해외에서도 활용하는 방안을 검토하고 있다”고 말했다.
민팃은 사업을 시작한 2019년 8월부터 국내에서 민팃ATM을 활용해 2021년 7월까지 85만 대를 매입했다.
SK네트웍스 관계자는 “민팃은 향후 다양한 사업자와 파트너십으로 리사이클 플랫폼을 구축하고 ESG 실행력 제고에 힘쓸 것”이라며 “글로벌 시장 진출도 준비하고 있다”고 말했다.
글로벌 반도체 공급난이 장기화하면서 신규 장비 납기도 짧게는 수개월부터 수십개월까지 길어지는 추세다. 장비 제조업체에 주문이 몰리고 있기 때문이다. 대만 TSMC는 장비 제조사에 자사 직원을 파견해 지원하는 등 납기를 앞당기는 데 힘을 쏟고 있다.닛케이에 따르면 1개월 정도에 확보할 수 있는 중고장비 수요가 가장 많이 늘었다. 현재 대기업 산하 임대업체 등이 첨단 반도체 제조사로부터 비사용 장비를 매입, 범용 반도체 업체에 판매하고 있다. 반도체 제조사는 밀려드는 고객사 증산 요구에 대응하기 위해 즉시 생산라인에 투입할 수 있는 중고품을 우선 구매하고 있다.
민팃ATM은 중고폰을 비대면으로 매입하는 키오스크형 장비다. 중고 스마트폰을 민팃ATM에 넣으면 자체 알고리즘이 적용된 인공지능(AI) 기술을 활용해 외관 상태와 기능 이상 여부를 검수하고 매입 가격을 산정한다. 모든 과정이 비대면으로 이뤄지며, 현장에서 곧바로 중고폰 매입 후 대금 지급이 이뤄진다.
SK네트웍스는 2019년 중고폰 전문 기업 금강시스템즈 지분 20%를 인수하며 ICT 리사이클 시장에 진입했다. 중고폰뿐만 아니라 태블릿과 데스크톱, 노트북까지 영역을 확장해 신규 중고 거래 시장을 개척하고 있다.
또한 인기게임인 배틀그라운드, 오버워치, 롤 등 저사양게임부터 고사양게임까지 가능한 PC들을 직접 체험해볼 수 있어 리뉴올PC의 체험존은 게임을 좋아하는 소비자라면 제품을 체험하고 즐길 수 있는 장소이다.관계자는 리뉴올PC의 슬로건 "되살리다.새것처럼.모든것을 처럼" 리뉴올PC가 추구하는 친환경적인 행보와 더불어, 기존 중고PC의 경우 온라인 전자상가, 개인대리점 위로 시장이 형성되어있어 전문적인 지식이 없는 경우 구매에 있어 많은 어려움을 겪었지만 대형 마트에 입점함으로써 PC에 대해 전문적 지식이 없는 사람들도 손쉽게 구매가 가능한 점이 소비자들의 니즈를 충족시킬 수 있었다"라고 전했다.
민팃은 현재 한국에서 무인 매입기 민팃ATM을 통해 중고스마트폰을 수거한 뒤 국내판매와 함께 베트남 등 해외로도 수출하는 사업을 하고 있다.
특히 리본즈는 국내 중고 명품 시장에서 가장 부상하는 명품 플랫폼이다. 최근 소비보다 체험을 중시하는 MZ세대의 성향 덕에 리본즈가 운영하는 국내 최대 규모의 명품 렌탈 서비스 ‘렌트잇’이 빠르게 성장하면서 이에 구조적으로 성장이 연동된 중고명품사업부 ‘리본즈 빈티지’ 또한 빠르게 성장하고 있다.
너비 2ｍ 남짓의 선인상가 통로 곳곳에는 중고 PC가 수십 대씩 벽돌처럼 쌓여있다. 고정비 부담을 못 견디고 폐업한 전국 PC방에서 쏟아져들어온 물건들이다.
SK네트웍스는 민팃사업부 자산·조직을 자회사 '민팃'으로 양도한다고 3일 밝혔다. 양도가액만큼의 자회사 신주를 인주받는 방식이다.
이처럼 리셀 사업에 뛰어드는 기업이 많아지는 것은 화제성 때문이다. 리셀은 단순한 중고 거래와 달리 희소성 높은 상품을 정가보다 비싸게 되파는 거래다. 브랜드마다 발매 수량을 제한해 희소성이 높아지면 자연스럽게 시세가 올라간다. 리셀 가격이 발매가보다 2~3배 이상 높아지는 경우가 많아 재테크 수단으로도 활용되는 추세다. 브랜드 가치를 중시하는 MZ세대의 관심이 뜨거운 사업 중 하나다.
신속한 의사결정 체계로 사업 전문성을 강화하고 리사이클 대표 플랫폼 사업자로 육성할 방침이다. 중고 스마트폰과 노트북 수출 등 글로벌 시장 진출도 추진한다.
민팃은 SK네트웍스가 지분 100%를 보유하고 있는데 아직 SK네트웍스 전체 연결기준 매출에서 차지하는 비중은 미미한 것으로 파악된다.
소비자들의 니즈에 맞춘 가성비 전략의 리뉴올PC는 이마트 영등포 타임스퀘어점에 이어 9월3일 이마트 킨텍스점 일렉트로마트에 입점하여 소비자들을 또 한번 만날 예정이다.
자회사로 통합은 9월 말 완료 예정이다. 민팃 대표를 겸임한 하성문 SK네트웍스 민팃사업부장이 자회사 운영을 맡아 리사이클 사업 전반을 총괄한다.아이맥매입 SK네트웍스는 보유 사업과 투자회사에 대한 종합 전략을 수립하고 추가 성장 기회를 모색하는 '사업형 투자사' 체계로 전환할 계획이다.ICT 리사이클 브랜드 민팃은 중고폰 무인매입기 '민팃ATM'을 전국 대형마트와 이동통신사 매장 3300여곳에 운영 중이다. 인공지능(AI) 기술을 접목, 비대면으로 중고폰 가치를 산정하고 현장에서 매입까지 가능하다.
특히나 코로나19로 인해 재택근무가 확대된 가운데, 공공기관 및 기업체에서 대량문의가 잇따라 따르고, 온라인 수업의 확대로 컴퓨터, 노트북의 수요가 높아졌다. 또한 리뉴올PC는 기존에 쓰던 중고컴퓨터&노트북을 매입해주는 보상판매 정책 또한 진행하여 많은 이들의 문의를 받았다.매장에서는 중고노트북, 중고컴퓨터, 조립컴퓨터 및 LED키보드 마우스, 램, 그래픽카드 등 다양한 컴퓨터관련 기기들을 손쉽게 접해볼 수 있으며 전문적인 지식을 가진 직원의 상담을 통해 완제품 구입뿐만 아니라 사용용도에 따라 업그레이드가 가능한 맞춤형 컴퓨터 구매까지 가능하다.
닛케이는 현재 반도체 시장의 장비 수요 증가세를 고려하면 중고 장비라도 충분히 이익을 얻을 수 있다는 업계 전망이 늘고 있다고 전했다.21일 오후 중고 컴퓨터(PC) 매입ㆍ판매 중심상가인 서울 용산구 용산전자상가 내 선인상가는 분주했다. 맥북매입신종 코로나바이러스감염증(코로나19) 대유행 이후 식당ㆍ카페ㆍ주점ㆍPC방 등에 손님의 발길이 끊기고 온 도시가 겨울잠을 자는 듯 고요하지만 용산 전자상가 만큼은 눈코 뜰 새 없는 모습이었다. PC를 포장하기 위한 에어캡 일명 '뽁뽁이'ㆍ골판지ㆍPC부품 등을 나르는 손수레가 상가 구석구석을 누볐다. 좁은 통로에선 손수레와 손님들이 엉켜 정체되는 모습도 나왔다.
글로벌 중고스마트폰 시장은 당분간 꾸준한 성장세를 보일 것으로 전망된다.
한편 SK네트웍스는 자동차 타이어·배터리 O2O 쇼핑 플랫폼 타이어픽 관련 사업도 신설 예정인 자회사 '카타니'로 통합한다. 분사를 통해 투자자 유치와 제품 카테고리 확장을 가속화, 온라인 플랫폼 사업자로 성장을 추진한다는 방침이다.중고컴퓨터 브랜드 리뉴올PC가 지난 8월7일 이마트 영등포 일렉트로마트에 성공적인 입점을 마쳤다.
하 대표는 이투데이와 인터뷰에서 "민팃을 더 많이 알리고 고객의 불만을 지속해서 해결해나가기 위한 서비스와 기술을 개발하는 데 중점을 두겠다"고 말했다.
세계적인 중고거래 플랫폼도 한국 서비스 진출을 준비하고 있다. 미국의 더리얼리얼, 스레드업와 함께 세계 3대 중고거래 플랫폼 ‘베스티에르 콜렉티브’는 지난해 말 ‘베스티에르 콜렉티브 코리아 유한회사’를 설립하고 올해 상반기 중 서비스를 시작할 예정이다. 베스티에르 콜렉티브는 중고 명품 위주로 거래한다. 업계에서는 이 회사의 가치를 2조원으로 평가했다.
글로벌 시장조사기관 IDC는 글로벌 중고 스마트폰시장 거래대수가 2019년 2억670만 대에서 2023년 3억3290만 대로 늘어날 것으로 바라보고 있다. 연평균 15% 이상 늘어난다는 것이다.
SDGs 아이치 엑스포는 유엔과 국제 사회의 최대 과제인 ‘지속가능한 개발 목표’를 달성하기 위해 2020년 만들어진 ESG 경영 관련 행사로, 코로나19 영향으로 온라인에서 진행된 지난 2년과는 달리 오프라인으로 개최했다.
국내 럭셔리 쇼핑 플랫폼들도 서비스 강화와 중고 명품 판매에 뛰어들고 있다. 중고명품 매입 및 위탁 판매 플랫폼인 구구스는 최근 시세정보 조회와 정품체크를 할 수 있는 서비스인 ‘Ai구구스’를 런칭했다. 캐치패션은 최근 ‘중고 명품 매입 서비스’를 시작했으며, 트렌비도 ‘중고 명품 리세일 사업’을 운영하고 있다.
SSG닷컴은 중고거래 플랫폼 '번개장터'와 손잡고 명품 라인업 강화에 나선다. 오는 29일부터 번개장터 프리미엄 콘셉트 스토어 'BGZT 콜렉션'의 리셀·중고 명품 200여종을 판매할 계획이다. BGZT 콜렉션이 정품 검수를 통해 직접 매입한 리셀 상품을 SSG닷컴에서 판매하는 방식이다. 2억원 상당 롤렉스 시계, 5000만원대 에르메스 버킨백 등 하이엔드 브랜드 상품 위주로 선보인다.
리본즈 관계자는 “MZ세대에게 중고 물품은 경험재”라며 “특히 중고 명품은 투자가치까지 더해져 있기에 중고 시장에서 가장 각광받는 상품으로 여겨진다”고 말했다.K네트웍스가 정보통신기술(ICT) 리사이클 사업부를 자회사 '민팃'으로 통합한다.
이에 롯데와 신세계도 성장잠재력이 큰 중고거래 플랫폼에 투자하고 나섰다. 롯데는 일찌감치 중고거래 시장에 투자했다. 롯데쇼핑은 지난해 3월 ‘중고나라’ 지분 95%가량을 유진자산운용, NH투자증권-오퍼스PE(기관투자형 사모펀드)와 공동으로 인수했다. 중고나라는 지난 2003년 설립된 국내 대표 중고거래 사이트로 회원 2300만명을 보유하고 있다. 지난 2020년 연간 거래액은 전년 대비 43% 증가한 5조원을 기록했다.
하지만 하 대표가 국내시장에서 안정적 사업기반을 확보해 나가고 해외사업까지 키운다면 민팃이 본격적 성장궤도에 오를 가능성은 충분하다는 평가를 받는다.
SK네트웍스 관계자는 “한국과 일본의 휴대폰 대표 유통 기업이 협력해 중고폰 리사이클 사업을 전개한다는 것은 글로벌 ESG 경영에 있어서도 좋은 사례”라며 “일본 시장에서 성공적인 연착륙을 달성함과 동시에 글로벌 시장에서도 민팃 사업 추진을 이어갈 것”이라고 말했다.SK네트웍스에서 10월 분사한 중고스마트폰 거래업체 민팃이 독자생존을 위한 길을 해외사업에서 찾고 있다.
사업 확대를 위해 먼저 중고스마트폰 확보가 중요한 만큼 민팃은 11월부터 KT, LG유플러스 매장 250여 곳에도 ‘민팃 미니ATM’을 들여놓기 시작했다.
서용구 숙명여대 교수는 “리셀 사업은 명품에 대한 선호도가 높은 MZ세대와 접점을 확대하고 구매 데이터를 확보하기에 유리한 사업”이라며 “기존 패션·명품 플랫폼들을 통해 시장 기회를 확인한 만큼 유통 기업들의 시장 진출이 더욱 활발해질 것”이라고 분석했다.SK네트웍스는 지난 6~8일 일본 아이치현 국제전시장에서 개최된 ‘SDGs 아이치(Aichi) 엑스포 2022’에서 현지 휴대폰 판매 1위 기업 ‘티가이아(T-GAIA)’가 중고폰 거래 기기 ‘민팃(MINTIT)’을 소개했다고 10일 밝혔다.
중고폰 검수·분류 자동화 라인은 AI 외관 검사기 1대, 기능 검사기 3대, 로봇팔 1기가 한 세트로 구성됐다. 2개 라인에서 시간당 최대 300대를 검수할 수 있다. 스마트폰 신제품 출시에 따른 특별보상 등 이벤트 기간과 같이 물량이 몰리는 기간에는 가동 시간을 늘려 유연하게 대처할 수 있다.
7월 조성락 각자대표이사가 사임한 뒤 단독대표이사를 맡고 있으며 10월 민팃이 SK네트웍스에서 분사한 뒤 계속 민팃 경영을 맡고 있다.글로벌 반도체 시장에 '중고장비' 수요가 급증하고 있다. 세계를 덮친 반도체 공급난으로 주요 제조사가 설비 증설에 나서면서 즉시 생산라인에 투입할 장비 수요가 덩달아 늘었다. 시장 재고가 적은 일부 중고장비는 2년 전보다 2배 이상 가격이 뛰는 등 '귀하신 몸'이 됐다.
하성문 민팃 대표이사는 개별 매장이 아니라 중고스마트폰 무인 매입기를 통하는 사업방식을 해외에서도 활용해 급성장하는 글로벌 중고스마트폰시장에서 빠른 실적 확대를 꾀할 것으로 보인다.
중고폰 무인매입기 '민팃ATM'을 운영하고 있는 민팃은 로봇과 AI를 활용한 자동화 공정을 중고폰 검수·분류 작업에 도입, 올해 3월부터 리사이클링 센터를 시범 운영하고 있다. 전국 이동통신 대리점, 가전양판점, 쇼핑몰 등에 5600여개의 민팃ATM을 통해 회수된 중고폰이 센터로 모여서 등급 판정 후 수출업자나 국내 중고폰 전문업체 등 수요처로 이동한다.민팃이 업계 최초로 검수·분류 작업에 자동화 공정을 도입한 것은 중고폰에 대한 신뢰도를 높이기 위해서다. 작업자 숙련도에 따라 차이가 날 수 있는 검수 품질을 체계화하고 정보 유출 등에 대한 불안감을 해소하는 등 시장 전반에 걸쳐 소비자 인식을 제고하기 위한 취지다.
민팃은 SK네트웍스 환경·사회·지배구조(ESG) 경영 실현의 대표 사례로 손꼽힌다. 중고 ICT 기기를 재사용함으로써 자원 순환을 통한 재료비 절감과 온실가스·환경오염을 감축, 176억원 규모 사회적 가치를 창출했다는 분석이다.
국내 중고스마트폰시장은 이동통신사 대리점 등을 통해 한해 약 1천만 대가 거래되는 것으로 추정된다. 민팃이 국내 중고스마트폰시장에서 사업을 확대할 여지도 큰 셈이다.
잔존가치가 낮은 폐휴대폰은 폐기하지 않고 재자원화한다. 친환경·사회공헌 활동의 일환으로 폐휴대폰 매입 시 최소금액 보장과 취약 계층 기부활동 등을 지원한다. 고객이 민팃ATM에서 중고폰을 판매하고 대금 지급 방식을 '기부'로 선택한 사례도 연간 3만대를 넘어섰다. 하성문 민팃 대표는 27일 “민팃ATM을 통해 성능을 진단받고 가격을 산정받은 후 플랫폼을 통해 거래하는 사례가 많이 늘었다”면서 “고객이 언제 어디서나 편리하고 안전하게 중고 거래를 할 수 있도록 기술을 개발하고 서비스를 확대해 나갈 것”이라고 말했다.스마트폰 크기에 맞춰 구획이 나눠진 두 줄의 컨베이어 벨트에 각양각색의 중고폰이 줄줄이 놓인다. 검수 구간에 진입하자 자유롭게 움직이는 두 개의 협동로봇이 중고폰을 맞이한다. 노트북매입인공지능(AI) 자동 검사장비에 넣어 외관 파손 등을 스캔하는데 30초, 다시 기능 검사장비로 옮겨서 화면 터치와 센서 등의 정상 작동 여부 확인에 90초가 소요된다. 최종 포장 라인으로 이동해 완충 비닐백에 넣고 등급 판정에 따른 QR코드 라벨링까지 모든 과정이 자동으로 이뤄진다.민팃 이천 리사이클링센터의 문을 열고 들어가자 산뜻한 민트색으로 디자인된 자동화 장비가 가장 먼저 눈에 들어왔다. 국내 자동조정·제어장치 전문 강소기업인 베셀과 민팃이 함께 개발한 중고폰 검수·분류 자동화 장비다.
SSG닷컴은 리셀·중고 명품 판매에 공을 들이고 있다. 앞서 지난 7월 오픈한 명품 전문관 'SSG LUXURY'에 중고 명품 파트너사 상품을 모은 '중고 명품' 코너를 신설한 바 있다. 최근 리셀 시장이 커지면서 지난 7월 SSG닷컴 중고 명품 매출은 작년 동기 대비 220% 증가했다. SSG닷컴은 연내 도입을 목표로 개인간거래(C2C) 방식 리셀 서비스 오픈도 준비하고 있다. 명품 보증·배송·사후관리에 이어 리셀 서비스까지 완성해 원스톱 명품 판매 플랫폼을 구축하겠다는 계산이다.
하지만 요즘 “20년 만에 다시 호황기가 찾아왔다”는 말이 나오고 있다. 폐업하는 PC방이 늘면서 중고 PC 매물이 넘쳐나는 가운데 직장인의 재택근무와 학생들의 비대면 학습 등으로 가정 내 데스크톱 수요가 증가하면서다. 유만식 선인상우회 회장은 “지난 7월부터 두 달가량 매출이 상가 전체적으로 30%가량 늘어난 것으로 추정된다”고 말했다.
용산전자상가는 사회적 거리두기 강화로 영업 중단과 재개를 반복한 PC방들이 줄줄이 폐업하면서 '반사이익'을 얻었다. 부동산114가 소상공인시장진흥공단의 상가 데이터를 분석해 발표한 자료에 따르면 PC방이 포함된 관광ㆍ여가ㆍ오락 업종은 1분기 1714개에서 2분기 1만454개로 감소해 폐업률이 10.8%에 달했다. PC방에서 대거 매물로 나온 중고 PC들은 이곳에서 부품별로 재조립되는 등 과정을 거쳐 소비자들에게 판매된다.한 중고 PC매매업자는 코로나19 이후 PC방이 폐업하면서 매입량이 10%가량 늘었다고 설명한다. 그는 "코로나19로 매입량이 늘어 긍정적인 효과를 본 것은 사실이다"면서 "매입한 PC는 분해해 부품별로 팔고 있다"고 말했다. 이어 "매입 늘어나도 부품 중 성능이 좋은 것은 곧바로 국내 소비자가 구매하고 조금 떨어지는 것은 해외로 수출해 판매처 걱정도 없다"며 "PC 매입가에서 7%정도가 이윤으로 남는다"고 덧붙였다. 이곳에서 PC부품을 취급하는 김성호(37)씨는 "최신 그래픽카드 등 인기 부품은 물건 떼오기가 무섭게 팔린다"며 "코로나19 특수까지는 아니지만 '어렵고 힘들다'하는 시기에 매출도 늘어나고 있는 것은 사실"이라고 말했다. PC조립 업체 직원인 한모(31)씨는 "중고 PC는 그대로 팔리는 것이 아니라 손님들 요구에 맞춰 다시 조립하기도 한다"며 "최근에 재택근무가 보편화되고 집에서 게임하는 수요가 증가하면서 조립 주문 물량이 많아 바쁘다"고 말했다.용산전자상가는 PC 부품, 게임 소프트웨어, 카메라 등 전자제품을 구입하려는 사람들에게는 성지같은 장소다. 1980년대 청계천 상가의 대림, 세운상가 전자상인들을 이주시키기 위해 만든 일종의 계획시장인 용산 전자상가는 1987년에 개장해 올해로 34년째 용산 한복판을 지키고 있다. 동굴처럼 복잡한 구조라고 해서 붙여진 '용던(용산 던전)', 악질 전자기기 판매업자를 일컫는 '용팔이' 등으로 인해 소비자들에게 이미지가 안 좋아지기도 했지만 코로나19로 인해 때아닌 호황을 맞고 있는 것이다. 같은 용산전자상가지만 게임 관련 상품을 판매하는 곳은 코로나19 사태의 직격탄을 맞았다. 스팀 등 온라인 상에서 게임을 구입하는 플랫폼이 대세가 되면서 오프라인 매장에는 손님의 발길이 뚝 끊겼다. 코로나19는 이런 변화의 속도를 가속화했다.국내 중고거래 시장이 새로운 트렌드로 자리 잡으면서 대기업은 물론 세계적인 투자자까지 속속 뛰어드는 가운데 가장 많은 사람이 이용한 앱이 ‘당근마켓’인 것으로 나타났다.
또한 고성능 작업에 발생되는 열을 최소화시키는 쿨러모드, 100만 화소 웹캠, 180˚ 화면 전환이 가능한 Share mode(공유 모드) 및 USB-C 포트 PD 충전, DP 화면 출력, 데이터 전송 지원은 학생용 및 사무용 노트북으로서 최고의 가성비를 자랑한다.
SK네트웍스와 민팃은 이번 엑스포에 이어 일본 내 상용화 개시 및 사업 확장이 이뤄지도록 티가이아와 협력을 지속하고, 민팃 기술력을 바탕으로 한 고객 가치와 친환경 가치를 글로벌 시장까지 확대 적용될 수 있도록 노력을 이어갈 방침이다.
하 대표는 무인 매입기를 설치할 해외국가로 우선 일본을 점찍었다.
신세계도 중고 시장에 뛰어들었다. 신세계그룹의 벤처캐피탈(CVC) 시그나이트파트너스는 중고거래 앱 ‘번개장터’에 투자했다. 시그나이트파트너스는 신세계그룹이 지난 2020년 7월 설립한 벤처캐피탈로 국내외 유망 스타트업에 투자하고 있다. 이번 투자의 배경은 중고거래 시장이 고성장을 지속하는 점과 중고거래가 활성화된 명품·스니커즈·골프 분야에서 강점을 가지고 있다는 점이다. 향후 신세계 계열사와의 시너지 창출도 고려했다는 게 회사 측의 설명이다.
